Traditionally, the first day of school is begun with a Rose Ceremony. Promptly after your child's drop off, please join us on the lawn next to the Lavender and Rosemary classrooms to partake in this event. This truly memorable moment is attended by all of our Community (except the Sweet Pea children) who form a loving and supportive circle on the lawn.

The oldest grades will then gather all the children from their classes to join within our Community circle, singing "Make New Friends".

Teacher Dana will say a few words of welcome. Each of her students will then present a rose to each rising first grader, welcoming them on their journey of life-long learning.

The children and the Community will again sing "Make New Friends" before exiting to their classrooms to begin our school year.

Children (except Sweet Pea) are asked to come to the first day of school wearing "Assembly Dress" consisting of a white shirt and navy blue pants, shorts, or skirt. We will wear these again for various festivals throughout the year.

We ask that you refrain from taking pictures or video during this special ceremony. We have school designated photographers who will document this occasion for our yearbook.

Make new friends, but keep the old
One is silver, and the other's gold
A circle's round, it has no end
That's how long I want to be your friend
